Suzuki Alstare sign Young for Donington
Suzuki Alstare Brux have announced Blake Young will join the team for the latest round of the World Superbike Championship at Donington Park, replacing Fonsi Nieto.

Although little-known on this side of the Atlantic, 21-year-old Young has been enjoying success in AMA Superbikes this season riding with the Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing team, scoring two podiums to date.

Coming after discussions with Young himself and former World Champion Kevin Schwantz, the team says he is under 'no-pressure' to perform over the weekend.

Even so, Young admits competing on the world stage is a 'dream come true' and an opportunity he is determined to make the most of.

“I'm really excited to race the Suzuki Alstare Brux GSX-R1000 at Donington Park this weekend. I've been racing motorcycles for as long as I can remember. I've always wanted to race Superbike and I got the chance to do that with the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team in America.

“Now, getting the opportunity to do a World Superbike race with the Suzuki Alstare Brux team in Europe is like a dream come true. I'm looking forward to it and want to make the most of this opportunity.”

Max Neukirchner, who broke his leg in an accident at Monza, is expected to return to the team for the following World Superbike Championship round at Brno.

Wow. I expected Young to come over the pond but not so soon. Hopefully he'll take his time and not get chewed up and spit out. Someone asked a couple of weeks ago who was the next "big thing" in AMA and me and a couple of posters stated Blake Young. Let's see what he can do.
