Hacking eyeing permanent WSBK berth

Jamie Hacking is setting his sights on a more permanent position in the World Superbike Championship having made a significant impression on proceedings in the three meetings he deputised at Kawasaki.

Hacking was drafted into the team as a replacement for the injured Makoto Tamada ahead of his home Miller Motorsports Park round in the United States, the AMA Superbike rider proceeding to qualify and finish well inside the top ten, scoring Kawasaki's best result in over a year.

Retained for Misano and Donington Park, although Hacking struggled more with the rigours of two unknown circuits, Hacking was comparative with Kawasaki's lead rider Broc Parkes throughout both weekends.

Indeed, Hacking says he feels he has done himself justice in the short time he has represented Kawasaki and would jump at the chance to return full-time.

“I would love to be in the World Superbike paddock,” he told Crash.net Radio. “I've not been blown away and I came in here knowing that these were A-class riders - it's unbelievable how many there are!

“Despite some of the mistakes that have been made, I think I have done fairly well. If we got a little more familiar with the machine, we'd be a bit better. It's hard to race around some of the race tracks, they are really demanding. It's like going on track and being held at gunpoint because you have got to go fast straight away!

“I'm enjoying it 100 per cent and I really want to be here.”

Although a loyal Kawasaki rider, Hacking went on to claim that he wouldn't necessarily require a ZX-10R to race on the world stage.

“I am wide open to any offers,” he added. “I am loyal to the company but you can't hide the fact that is a bike that struggles a little bit and I have been the only guy that's proven to put in good results on it.

“I would like some options to weigh up and I'd like to jump on a bike that I can go well on right away! But the Kawasaki deal was there to come over and ride here, so I wouldn't have turned it down for sure.”
