Bayliss denied V8 endurance debut

15 September 2009

A technical failure on the warm-up lap for Sunday's Phillip Island V8 Supercar round meant triple World Superbike champion Troy Bayliss will have to wait for the legendary Bathurst event to make his endurance race debut in the 'tin-top' series.

Troy's co-driver Dean Fiore was at the wheel of their Holden Commodore when it broke an alternator belt.

“It's a shame, but these things happen,” Bayliss sighed, “As soon as the car couldn't come back under its own steam, we couldn't start the race. It just wasn't meant to be today.”

Bayliss at least took part in Saturday's 14 lap 'Race B' build-up event, which he finished one lap down in 29th.

The L&H 500 was the first of two endurance races Bayliss has signed to drive in alongside Fiore. The Bathurst 1000 takes place on October 8-11.
