Shane Byrne was disappointed to miss out on the Superpole shootout for only the second time in seven races after struggling with set-up issues on the Sterilgarda Ducati.

The Briton has had a turbulent weekend thus far following technical issues on the Friday, although a tenth place provisional qualifying position would put him in good stead for Superpole.

However, while Byrne would go on to qualify fairly strongly in ninth position, he admits he would have liked to be starting higher.

"We didn't find the right setup and so I didn't get a good feeling from the front of the bike. This hasn't happened in the last few races but the team did a great job despite the technical issues.

“We improved in qualifying practice and we did pretty well in Superpole too. However, we'll try to make a step forward tomorrow, score a good result and hopefully ensure my position in the standings.”
