Five months after he was left fighting for his life in an accident at Kyalami, Regis Laconi is to make his first appearance on a bike during a special demonstration run at Magny-Cours.
Laconi was put into an induced coma following the accident in South Africa back in May, the Frenchman suffering two fractured vertebrae and remaining in hospital for almost a month.
Having made a welcome first appearance in the World Superbike paddock at Imola in support of his DFX Ducati team, Laconi's remarkably rapid recovery will now see him rewarded with a chance complete three laps of his home circuit prior to the first race.
A poignant moment for the former WSBK runner-up, the demonstration will go a long way to raising hopes that he will make a return to competition in 2010.
Following three unsuccessful years at Kawasaki, Laconi's move to DFX Ducati prompted a flurry of good results early in the year, including a front row start at Valencia and three fourth place finishes.
