Broc Parkes to stay in WSBK

Broc Parkes will remain in the World Superbike Championship next year after signing to ride for the Echo CRS Honda team during its debut season in the premier-class.

The Australian finished 18th in the 2009 WSBK standings with the PBM Kawasaki team and arguably enjoyed his best showing of the year during a one-off BSB entry at Brands Hatch, when he claimed three second-places behind eventual champion Leon Camier.

Parkes, a five time WSS race winner, will be riding ex-Stiggy Honda CBR1000RR machines run by Echo in 2010.

Echo will be stepping up to WSBK after an uncompetitive season in the World Supersport class, which it began with Russell Holland and Fabrizio Lai and finished with Michael Laverty and Sam Lowes.

Ryuichi Kiyonari is among the names linked to the second Echo seat.

Parks is lightening quick if he gets hold of a bike that really suits him. It's not just a question of a quick bike, but one that suits his style. He seems to be one of these people who can't really change his riding to suit the bike.

He doesn't seem to have had much success at developing a bike, but he's never had access to the resources to do so. It would be very interesting to see him go to a factory team or a really well funded team with a good crew chief / race engineer. Perhaps he can't develop bikes, or perhaps he's just never had the chance.
