The fight for the World Supersport Championship could be decided in the appeals court after Intermoto Czech Honda revealed it is considering action to win back its second place finish at the Nurburgring.

Gino Rea saw his and the team's best-ever finish of second taken away hours after the race when officials deemed the idle control valve on the Honda CBR600RR to be illegal.

A desperately disappointing outcome to a race in which Rea had battled for victory from start-to-finish, the team declared the part – which is used by several other outfits – does not aid performance. As such, Intermoto is now considering legal action against the verdict.

“The team and I are as shocked as everyone else with this decision for something which other squads have been using for years,” Rea said after the race. “Obviously I'm not happy with the decision. This will be a major upset to all teams in FIM-regulated paddocks as the part will have to be removed.”

The outcome of any potential appeal could have significant ramifications on the overall Supersport title fight as well.

Indeed, Rea's removal from second place means Kenan Sofuoglu's series lead rises from eight to twelve points, meaning the Turk can now focus again on finishing second behind Eugene Laverty in the final two races to win the title. Had Rea kept second, Sofuoglu and Laverty would need to go head-to-head at Imola and Magny-Cours.

Yes sofu cried to the officials lol. GET a life.

Kenan will win @ Imola and take the title @ Magny Cours. Imola is Kenan's favourite circuit and if Laverty beats him there then hats off to him.


As for the subject. DQ for an idle control valve ? Bullshit. It must be for something else. If not, then the officials have made a terrible mistake. And how exactly does the bike pass pre race inspection and fail the post race one ?

Something cheesy going on for sure.
