No improvements as rain blights Q2

25 September 2010

The World Superbike riders will head into today's Superpole session at Imola with less set-up data than usual after rain played havoc in Q2.

While the conditions were an improvement on what the World Supersport riders experienced earlier in the morning, lap times were still around six seconds slower than usual as many of the teams opted to keep running to a minimum.

As such, the combined timesheet sees no alterations from Q1, which means Ian Lowry and Matteo Baiocco will not progress to Superpole this afternoon.

The session itself was topped by Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow, a substantial eight tenths faster than Lorenzo Lanzi, while Jonathan Rea, Sylvain Guintoli and James Toseland completed the slightly unrepresentative top five.

Noriyuki Haga, Tom Sykes, Ruben Xaus and Federico Sandi did not venture out on track to seta lap time, while only Michel Fabrizio and Max Biaggi completed more than ten laps each.
