Guintoli joins Liberty Ducati for 2011

6 October 2010

Sylvain Guintoli will get a second season in the World Superbike Championship after concluding a deal to ride a privateer Ducati for burgeoning operation Liberty Racing.

The Frenchman concluded his maiden season in the premier Superbike class over the weekend, Guintoli finishing a fine seventh position overall for Suzuki, even if he was the highest-placed rider not to reach the podium all year

However, with Suzuki Alstare set to confirm Michel Fabrizio on its sole bike for next season, Guintoli will instead return to the Ducati stable, two years after concluding his MotoGP career on a Desmosedici.

Guintoli will partner Jakub Smrz in the all-new Prague-based team, which has been formed by the Liberty Cz Group.

"I am delighted to have managed to sign another "top rider" for the team, which will definitely help to give those good results the company investors and its partners are expecting from this venture,” said Liberty CEO Mario Bertuccio.

“Thanks also to Infront and the racing division of Ducati for the support and encouragement given to the team and its members for the launch of this new structure, and we are hoping that the partnership will be full of satisfaction for everyone."
