Lanzi to replace Toseland at BMW Italia
Lorenzo Lanzi has been called up as a last minute replacement for James Toseland at BMW Italia ahead of the Misano and Motorland Aragon rounds of the World Superbike Championship.

Toseland declared on the eve of the sixth round that he will be unable to race after encountering further problems with his troublesome wrist injury, an ailment that has seen him complete just a single race since the accident in March.

Nonetheless, BMW Italia will retain a full strength line-up at Misano and Motorland Aragon, with experienced WSBK racer Lanzi stepping into his position.

A return to international competition for Lanzi, who competed for DFX Ducati in 2010, the Italian has started a total of 124 WSBK races over six seasons, notching up three race wins (two for Xerox Ducati and one for RG Ducati). His most recent podium came with a run to second position at Imola in 2010 aboard the DFX Ducati.

Lanzi will join fellow Italian Ayrton Badovini in the satellite BMW team.

Good for Lanzi, the guy is a madman so this can be interesting. I hope he can put the past behind him, as he suffered a big mental blow when his father past away. Since then, it mostly went downwards.
