Toseland opts out of Brno event

8 July 2011

James Toseland has decided to withdraw from the latest World Superbike Championship event at Brno in an effort to be fully fit in time for his home event at Silverstone.

The Briton, who skipped the last two rounds at Misano and Motorland Aragon, had hoped to return to WSBK action this weekend, but despite making it out on track during FP1 and setting the 18th fastest time, he will proceed no further.

Posting a message on his Facebook account, Toseland says he was pleased to get out on track, but will now focus on getting back to full fitness for Silverstone in three weeks time.

“Had a run out this morning to get up to speed, unfortunately I have to sit out the rest of the weekend and get fully fit for Silverstone,” said Toseland, who has completed just one race since injuring the wrist in private testing back in March.

Lorenzo Lanzi will assume Toseland's place on the BMW Italia for the remainder of the weekend.
