BMW riders Marco Melandri and Leon Haslam to complete first 2012 WSBK laps during testing at Valencia.
With the World Superbike winter test ban having expired on January 15, the BMW Motorrad team of Marco Melandri and Leon Haslam will experience their first
WSBK action of 2012 during a test at Valencia.
Testing starts on Wednesday, with Haslam - preparing to start his second year at the factory team - Tweeting on Tuesday: “Just about to board my flight to Spain. Only one more sleep before I get to ride my new bike.”
New signing Melandri also used Twitter to confirm his presence, stating “All good for tomorrow's test in Valencia!”
Melandri finished second to
Carlos Checa (Ducati) in last year's championship, while riding for Yamaha, while Haslam - runner-up in 2010 - was fifth overall during his first season on the S1000RR.
The 2012
WSBK season starts at Phillip Island on February 26.
