Team Effenbert-Liberty has announced that Federico Sandi will represent its new FIM Superstock 1000 effort in 2012 aboard a brand-new Ducati 1199 Panigale.
The Italian, who raced in the CIV Italian Superbike series in 2011 and has made six WSBK
appearances over the last two seasons, will pair with Brett McCormick in the Czech team's burgeoning SSTK 1000 effort.
Sandi will ride the all-new 1199 Panigale, which is being rolled out at Superstock level before making its planned Superbike debut in 2013.
“My goal for the season was to race with the new 1199 Ducati Panigale,” he said. “The chances to fulfill this goal were very low because there are not going to be many teams having the Panigale available to them. I am delighted to have signed the agreement with the Liberty Racing Team from the technical standpoint as well as from the human one. I will do my very best to pay the team back for believing in me as I will be aiming for top positions.”
At 22-years-old, Sandi, together with McCormick and Maxime Berger – who will ride in the Superbike class -, is representative of Effenbert-Liberty's desire to promote young talent.
"I'm really happy about the agreement we signed with Federico,”, team manager Natale Egi said. “I can see his motivation. In a few days, he will leave to Australia with us, where both him and Brett McCormick will have the opportunity to test the new bike during the private test at Phillip Island on 13th to 15th February.”
Following a successful maiden WSBK
campaign in 2011, Prague-based Effenbert Liberty will enter three bikes at Superbike level this season and two in the Superstock series for the first time.
