Lascorz injury unclear until swelling reduces
The Kawasaki Racing Team has issued the following update regarding seriously injured World Superbike star Joan Lascorz, who suffered damage to his vertebra during a testing accident at Imola on Monday:

“After a crash during a scheduled testing session at Imola on Monday 2 April, Kawasaki Racing Team rider Joan Lascorz is now continuing his recovery in Spain, at the Valle Hebron hospital in Barcelona.

“He is undergoing further checks and treatment for the injuries he suffered to his C6 vertebra.

“The 27-year-old Spanish rider had an operation to relocate his vertebra at the Maggiore Hospital in Italy and the final extent of any neurological injuries he may have suffered are not currently clear and will not be fully known until the swelling around the affected area reduces.

“All those in the Kawasaki Racing Team and the entire Kawasaki family would like to thank the many people, teams and organisations that have sent messages of support and best wishes to Joan and his loved ones at this difficult time.”

I'm sorry to hear that the damage was to the C6 and not the T6 vertebra, as previously reported. Of course the prognosis would be somewhat more optimistic had the injury been lower down the spine.

That said it's clearly pointless to speculate any further at the moment, so we can only send our best wishes to Joan and continue to hope for the best possible recovery for him.

So i take it this makes it worse? I'm not particularly up to speed with spinal injuries. Im guessing T is thoracic and C is cervical? And cervical is nearer the top so would have more of an effect on the brain? :( poor guy. I really REALLY hope he pulls through. His battles with Laverty in WSS were epic!! All the best Joan lad x
