Furious Effenbert Liberty team slams WSBK
The Effenbert Liberty Ducati team says it is considering its participation in the World Superbike Championship after declaring its fury at some of the decisions taken during a truncated race day at Monza.

The Czech-based team made its WSBK debut at the start of 2010 but has quickly established itself as a frequent front runner and came into the Monza weekend having taken its first victory last time out at Assen. Together with its rider Sylvain Guintoli claiming pole position for the two races, Effenbert Liberty Ducati looked on course for another strong event.

However, the team would ultimately be prevented from taking advantage after the first race was cancelled on safety grounds, while Guintoli's bike would cut out on the second running of the warm-up for a race that would have started 15mins earlier but for the protestations of some riders on the grid.

Suggesting that organisers are too readily influenced by the views of only certain riders, Effenbert Liberty Ducati vented its frustration in an extraordinary statement released to the media in which it suggests it will now consider its future participation.

“The clear impression is that the WSBK has endured one of its worst days, disrespect for the public, for those who, like Team Effenbert, invests and for sports in general.

“It is unacceptable that the fundamental decisions of the day are been taken with such a superficiality not even worthy of a single brand championship of scooters. At the end it is clear that the WSBK is in the hands of a little number of team and riders.

“Other categories, also titled, would never ran into such a farce, a fact proven by the competitions of the other classes without major incident and without complaint.

“Considering all this situations, the team Effenbert Liberty's management will reflect about its racing future.”
