Grillini BMW signs Sandi for Misano
Federico Sandi is to make a return to the World Superbike Championship stage for his home round of Misano after being called up to ride with Grillini Progea BMW.

The former CIV Italian Superbike Championship front runner has endured a troubled year so far having seen his original deal to race with Effenbert Liberty Ducati in the FIM Superstock 1000 Championship fall through before the start of the season.

A last minute deal to ride with Althea Racing in the series lasted just two rounds before the Italian team opted out in order to concentrate fully on its Superbike efforts.

Nonetheless, Sandi, who has made six previous starts at WSBK level with Gabrielli Aprilia in 2010 and Althea Ducati in 2011, will be back on a bike for Misano as the latest rider to compete with Grillini BMW following the recent departure of Mark Aitchison.

Jake Holden rode the satellite S1000RR during the previous Miller Motorsports Park round.

Interesting choice, in my opinion Sandi is a talented rider. This year's results in ST1000 with the 1199 were disappointing, I hope he will do better this time (although Grillini BMW is not really the machine to beat...)
