WSBK » Laverty out to break Aprilia victory duck

Eugene Laverty eyes his first Aprilia victory at Portimao, his favourite circuit on the World Superbike Championship calendar.
Confident Laverty eyes victory at favourite track
Eugene Laverty feels he has an excellent opportunity to break his Aprilia victory duck at Portimao this weekend, the circuit where he made his eye-catching debut aboard the RSV-4 almost twelve months ago.

Though Laverty has endured a turbulent first season with Aprilia – even going so far as to label it 'woeful' prior to the most recent event at the Nurburgring -, the Irishman's run to the podium during both German races has now lifted him a spot to sixth in the standings with four races remaining.

Indeed, Laverty says he gained confidence from his performance at the Nurburgring, a boost he hopes will serve him well at his 'favourite track' of Portimao.

A winner at WSS level around the Portuguese circuit, Portimao is also where Laverty made his impressive Aprilia debut during post-season testing last year, an experience that he believes will make him a strong challenger for victory this weekend.

“Portimao is my favourite track on the calendar as I really enjoy the steep undulations of the circuit,” he said. “My first experience of the Aprilia RSV4 was at the Portimao circuit last October and I managed to lap very quickly so it's clear that the Aprilia works very well there.

“My confidence is high following the double podium at the Nurburgring and so I aim to continue that form through to the end of the season.

“The RSV4 is going from strength to strength which was evident last time out when all three Aprilias made a clean sweep of the podium in race one at Nurburgring. I believe we can do the same again with the Portimao circuit appearing to favour our bike.”

It's time to put it on the top step of the podium this weekend Norge! Only 2 rounds left to show what you can do on the RSV4. The bike's now doing what you expected.
2 podiums this weekend would be sweet - both P1 is a huge ask but hoping like hell you can do it. Love to Pippa.

Aprilia team orders have already shown that Norge is not allowed to take points off Max.
Norge is capable of a win, but I don't think Biaggi/Aprilia will allow it, unless Max is two places or more from scoring points.
