World Superbike Championship title rivals Max Biaggi, Tom Sykes and Marco Melandri will head into Superpole with their eyes set firmly on the pole position after locking out the top three during Q2.

Having been the comfortable pace setter during Q1, Melandri looked set to further his cause as he became the first rider to dip into the 1min 42secs during the final minutes of Q2, only for arch rival Biaggi to go even quicker late on.

With Sykes squeezing between them, the three main championship challengers would stand proud at the top of the timesheets with Superpole to come later in the day.

Behind them, Leon Haslam and Eugene Laverty filled out the top five, while Loris Baz made a substantial improvement over Q1 to set the sixth fastest time, ahead of Jonathan Rea and Leon Camier.

Althea Ducati duo Davide Giugliano and Carlos Checa rounded out the top ten, while further back Brett McCormick took advantage of Lorenzo Zanetti's technical issues to replace him in the provisional top sixteen and secure his first-ever Superpole placing.
