Laverty eyeing first Aprilia win from third
Eugene Laverty feels he is well placed to challenge for his first World Superbike Championship win as an Aprilia rider at Portimao after qualifying third on the grid.

Following a brace of second place finishes at the Nurburgring, Laverty arrives at his favourite circuit in Portugal looking to go one better aboard the RSV4 this weekend.

It is an objective he is poised to fulfil after qualifying in third position behind Tom Sykes and Carlos Checa, Laverty adding that he is very happy with his bike on race tyres too.

“We've been fast all weekend and I can honestly say that I'm happy with both the position on the grid and the feeling with my RSV4. In the second free practice session we had some excellent lap times on a race tyre so I'm quite optimistic for the races tomorrow.

“In Superpole I struggled with a bit of chattering when lapping on a qualifier so I'm pleased to have the third spot on the grid.”
