The penultimate round of the 2012 FIM Superstock 1000 Championship has been delayed until later in the day after worsening weather conditions at Portimao deemed it too unsafe to start on time.
The race was due to get underway at 10.30GMT, but heavy rain in Portugal has prompted organisers to delay it so that it can get the circuit into condition for the upcoming World Superbike race at 12.00GMT.
Indeed, organisers will be under pressure to ensure the
WSBK race goes ahead safely after much of the Monza race day was cancelled due to inclement weather. At the same time though, organisers were criticised for allowing the
Silverstone race to go ahead in treacherous conditions.
As it stands, rain is still falling heavily at Portimao with just over an hour to go before the scheduled
WSBK race begins.
