Kawasaki's Tom Sykes moved to the top of the leaderboard as lap times came down on the second day of World Superbike testing at Motorland Aragaon.

The 2012 runner-up, riding the first development of the 2013-specification Kawasaki ZX-10R, was amongst the leading riders to be utilising the 17-inch Pirelli tyres that will be introduced from next season.

Setting a best time of 1min 57.6secs, he was marginally faster than the man who beat him to the 2012 WSBK title by 0.5 points, Max Biaggi.

Day one pace setter Leon Camier was third fastest on the FIXI Crescent Suzuki after a slightly improvement in his times, ahead of factory Aprilia rider Eugene Laverty and new Red Devils Roma Aprilia rider Michel Fabrizio, the latter sticking with the 16.5-inch tyres for the time being.

Though only sixth fastest, Carlos Checa improved his lap time on the Ducati 1199 Panigale by half a second, while Davide Giugliano was eighth fastest despite a tumble.
