Effenbert Liberty set to reveal 2013 WSBK plans?

17 November 2012

After a contentious 2012 World Superbike Championship season, during which it dropped riders and missed rounds altogether, Effenbert Liberty Racing has hinted that it intends to defy expectations and return in 2013.

The satellite Ducati team enjoyed an encouraging WSBK debut in 2011, but while its second season began well when Sylvain Guintoli secured its first win at Assen, it would become embroiled in a series of controversies thereafter.

Going on to part ways with each of the riders it began the season with – Guintoli, Jakub Smrz and Maxime Berger – Effenbert Liberty's continuation in the World Superbike Championship seemed doubtful when it skipped the final event of 2012 at Magny-Cours altogether.

Nonetheless, a brief update on the team's official Facebook page suggests Effenbert Liberty has plans to continue next year, stating: “Only a few days to the final decision for the press release for projects 2013/2014.”

Specific details remain scarce, though rumours have placed Brett McCormick on a satellite BMW, the Canadian having made an impression with the team during an otherwise injury-hampered season.
