With the passing of another season, the time has come to look ahead to the 2013 motorcycling season, which gets underway with the opening round of the World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island on February 22nd-24th.
Following the announcement that 2012 champion
Max Biaggi is hanging up his leathers, attention turns to who will succeed him.
As it stands, there is a good chance we will see a brand new
WSBK title winner in 2013, with
Carlos Checa the only ex-champion to be lining up on the grid, while Jules Cluzel (FIXI Crescent Suzuki) is currently the only rookie contender lining up.
Somewhat worryingly for series organisers, currently only 16 riders are confirmed for 2013 as we head into the new year, though at least two more bikes from Pedercini Kawasaki are expected to be confirmed in the next couple of weeks before a full entry list is published ahead of the new year.
