Injured Cluzel ruled out of Phillip Island test

15 February 2013

French rider Jules Cluzel has been forced to miss the second day of the Phillip Island test through injury following a heavy crash on Thursday.

The Fixi Crescent Suzuki rider twice fell at Turn 11 at the newly resurfaced Australian circuit on day one of the unofficial shakedown, landing heavily on his left elbow in one of the incidents and aggravating an injury from earlier in the year.

Cluzel, preparing for his maiden season in the World Superbike Championship, did not initially expect to be sidelined for Friday's test.

However, following a thorough examination at the circuit, it was decided that a small operation was required to close the hole in his arm sustained as a result of the accident.

Cluzel is due to undergo the surgery today in Melbourne and plans to return to the team's base later in the day.

It is expected that he will be fit enough to compete in the official two-day test at Phillip Island on Monday and Tuesday prior to the opening World Superbike round in Australia on February 24.
