'Excited' Cluzel gears up for WSBK bow in Australia
21 February 2013
Jules Cluzel has put his crash during testing at Phillip Island last week behind him as the World Superbike rookie prepares to make his race debut in the class on Sunday.
The young French rider has made the step up from the World Supersport series and is bidding to make a solid start to the season for the Fixi Crescent Suzuki team.
Cluzel, who required a minor operation to close an elbow wound after he fell during last week's private test in Australia, has fully recovered from the incident and is 'excited' by the prospect of his maiden WSBK race this weekend.
“I am excited about my first time in Superbike, because race weekend is really different compared to the tests,” he said.
“For me I think we can do something good at the first event, but I still have to learn a lot for the two long races.
“It will be a really different approach because I'm not used to doing two races, but I am excited because it looks like the team can achieve good things with Leon [Camier] and I hope I can also get some good points.
“I am learning more and more about the bike every time I ride it and my feeling becomes better with every lap,” added Cluzel.
“It will be difficult because there are many good riders, but I will be trying to get some good results and gain more knowledge about how to ride the FIXI Crescent Suzuki Superbike.”
