Chaz Davies 'shoulders' some of the work-load for the injured BMW team-mate Marco Melandri by completing two full days of testing at Jerez.
‘Lots of potential’ for Davies after Jerez test
Chaz Davies is confident he is continuing to make progress on his BMW S1000RR after two days of productive testing at Jerez.

Davies, who picked up a fine fourth place finish on his team debut at the recent Phillip Island season opener, was on sole testing duties at Jerez following Marco Melandri's recent shoulder operation, the Welshman taking advantage of the increased track time to put in 114 laps.

Focusing on electronic strategies to improve the rideability of the S1000RR HP4, though Davies acknowledges that there is still work to be done, he was pleased with the progress made.

“We accomplished a lot of work over the last two days and it was a very productive test. We fully focused on working on the electronics and tested a lot of new strategies. It was really interesting and we came up with solutions that have a lot of potential.

“There is some more work needed but we have another test in a couple of weeks. I think all was very positive, everybody has worked well and I am reasonably happy.”

No lap times for Davies were released.

The second round of the 2013 World Superbike Championship at Motorland Aragon will take place on April 14th.
