WSBK Aragon 2013: Brake woes hamper Haslam progress

15 April 2013

Leon Haslam's fraught second round of the 2013 World Superbike Championship at Motorland Aragon continued into race day as brake woes forced him into two low top ten finishes.

On a weekend that saw Haslam suffer problems on the Friday before damaging his bike in an accident early on Saturday, the Briton's luck wouldn't change in the races as he struggled to get the Pata Honda stopped around the circuit.

An issue that would also hamper Jonathan Rea in the second race, Haslam was frustrated to have his results – two ninth place finishes – dictated by more technical issues.

“It was a tough start to the weekend with the issues we had on Friday and then Saturday even more so with the crash in qualifying and then the technical problem with a broken sensor in FP2. We finally got the bike running in Superpole, which I was really happy about and we found a really good amount of time.

“In the races we've just had brake issues. Race one was worse than race two but the problems have kind of determined our results and they are long old races when you have those kind of problems.”

Despite his troubles, Haslam is now one of only two riders – the other being Sylvain Guintoli - to have finished all four races of the season inside the top ten.
