WSBK Monza: Camier expecting 'hard' weekend

8 May 2013

Fixi Crescent Suzuki's Leon Camier expects another difficult weekend at Monza in Italy as he continues to recover from a knee injury he sustained at Aragon.

World Superbike contender Camier is working hard to regain full fitness after braving the pain barrier to ride at Assen but admits he is still some way off a return to his optimum performance levels.

“I'm expecting a pretty hard weekend at Monza, regardless of my fitness.

“It's a tough and fast circuit to race at, but we have a few things to try and if we get the set-up right and the chassis working well we might be able to make some advantages count on the track that will help us,” he said.

“My knee is getting better all the time and I'm working hard to get it fully fit.

“It was pretty swollen after the race at Assen, but since then I've had the stitches out and it's healed really well. It's ok now, but still quite sore."

Camier is putting in the hours in the gym to speed up the recovery process on an effort to enhance his bike fitness before the European round at Silverstone.

“I've done lots of gym work and a bit of hiking in the mountains to get it stronger and the movement better,” added Camier.

“It will still take a bit of time to get it 100%, but I am looking forward to getting back on the FIXI Crescent Suzuki to get myself bike fit, especially with my home race coming up soon.”
