WSS: Local rider Lascorz heads free practice

1 January 1901

Wet weather at Valencia has brought out an unusual top ten during second free practice ahead of round four of the World Supersport Championship.

Andrew Pitt who is deputizing for the injured Sebastien Charpentier on the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda led the bulk of the damp session but was beaten to the number one spot by local rider Joan Lascorz on his Glaner Motocard.com Honda.

Third place went to Endurance rider David Checa on the GMT 94 Yamaha with Davide Giugliano in fourth despite a fall mid session.

Fellow country men and name sakes, Gianluca Vizziello and Gianluca Nannelli were running in fifth and sixth respectively.

Britain Craig Jones completed the wet session in fourteenth place. With the bad weather set to continue it looks like Friday's qualifying times will define the grid.

There were several fallers during the session with Praia and Harms both requiring medical attention. The injured SSP Yamaha team of Broc Parkes and Kevin Curtain decided to sit out free practice and save themselves and their damaged collar bones for qualifying this afternoon.
