Sam Lowes will start from pole position for the third World Supersport Champioship race in succession after rain at Monza washed away his rivals' hopes of challenging him.
Having equalled the WSS lap record on his way to provisional pole position in Q1, Lowes merely had to sit back and watch that become upgraded to an outright pole position as tricky weather conditions consigned the riders to the pit lane for much of the 45 minute session.
Lowes will share the front row with three Kawasakis, with DeltaFin pairing Kenan Sofuoglu and Sheridan Morais holding onto second and third, while Fabien Foret joins his ZX-6R counterparts in fourth aboard the Intermoto Step entry.
Wild-card rider Stefano Cruciani makes it four Kawasakis inside the top five in fifth, ahead of countryman Roberto Tamburini on the Lorini Honda and Ten Kate Honda's Broc Parkes, the Australian no doubt ruing the weather having looked fast in morning practice.
Lowes's Bogdanka PTR team-mate Mathew Scholtz starts eighth for his best-ever grid slot, ahead of leading Yamaha rider Massimo Roccoli and PTR Honda's Jules Cluzel.
