Sam Lowes has laid down a difficult marker for his rivals to match after claiming a dominant World Supersport provisional pole position at Donington Park.

The Bogdanka PTR rider has been in exceptional form throughout the day, going more than a second faster than his nearest rival in FP1, a margin he almost replicated in Q1 as he went just a tenth adrift of his own lap record.

Nine tenths further behind, series leader Kenan Sofuoglu progressed to second position aboard the DeltaFin Kawasaki, while Jules Cluzel continued his fine form to claim a provisional third.

Joining them on the provisional front row is Glen Richards, the Australian wild-card following up his fine performance in FP1 with fourth in Q1, even if he lost time with an off mid-way through the session.

His Smiths Gloucester Triumph team-mate Billy McConnell was also impressively competitive in fifth place, ahead of Honda duo Ronan Quarmby and Broc Parkes, while Sheridan Morais rounds off the current second row.

Imre Toth and Vladimir Leonov complete the top ten, just edging out Martin Jessopp, the local rider enjoying his most competitive session of the season in 11th place. His countrymen Kieran Clarke and Luke Mossey hold down provisional 19th and 20th positions.
