Sofuoglu fit to race after operation

17 July 2012

World Supersport Championship leader Kenan Sofuoglu has confirmed he will be fit enough to race at Brno after undergoing an operation on his knee.

The Turk went under the knife following the Motorland Aragon event after 'popping' his knee out of position during the race weekend, but has made a sufficient recovery so as to return to action in the Czech Republic this weekend.

Sofuoglu comes to Brno looking to shrug off the controversies of the previous event, which saw him punished for aggressive on-track behaviour, antics that cost him a potential win and incurred the criticism of both commentators and fans.

“I had an operation on my left knee after the Motorland Aragon round and I am now reaching the fitness level I want. My last training session left me feeling happy and confident and I think I am really ready now to ride at Brno, especially after a difficult race day at Aragon.

“I want to take away a good result at the next race. It is important for me to do well and show good pace at the Brno round.”

Sofuoglu currently heads the WSS standings by 16 points aboard the Kawasaki Lorenzini.
