Broc Parkes has thrown his name into the ring of pole position contenders when World Supersport qualifying gets underway later today, the Australian topping second free practice.

The Ten Kate Honda rider, who comes into the final event of 2012 having not won a race this season, was a comfortable two tenths faster than provisional pole sitter Jules Cluzel, though he fell three tenths shy of the Frenchman's provisional pole winning lap from Q1.

Behind Cluzel, his countryman Fabien Foret held down third position ahead of new champion Kenan Sofuoglu, while Sam Lowes completed a familiar looking top five.

Indeed, the top ten in FP2 would differ little from Q1, with Massimo Roccoli, Sheridan Morais, Mathew Scholtz and Ronan Quarmby all maintaining sixth through to ninth, while Gabor Talmacsi ascended into the top ten in tenth.
