SSTK: Savadori joins Pedercini Kawasaki
12 December 2012
Italy's Lorenzo Savadori has joined the Pedercini Kawasaki team to contest the FIM 1000 Superstock Cup next year.
The 19-year-old finished fifth overall in the series this year and claimed Ducati's first major international victory on the 1199 Panigale at Monza.
He also secured podium finishes at Assen and Magny Cours for the Barni Ducati team.
Savadori is also a former European 125GP champion (2007) and competed in the 125cc Grand Prix World Championship from 2008 to 2010.
The teenage prospect is looking to raise the bar in 2013 after a 'learning curve' this year and expects to challenge for the championship title.
“I had a huge learning curve in 2012 and probably with a little bit of luck I would be able to reach also better results, that's why I think we can do even better in 2013,” he said.
“Next season is going to be very important for me because last year I was able to finish in the top five and this year I want to fight for the Superstock 1000 title.
“It will be a new team for me and so we will have to learn work together and attain the best possible results,” he added.
“I'm very happy for the opportunity that has been given to me by the Pedercini family and I'm really excited about next season.”
Team manager Lucio Pedercini said he believes Savadori has the potential to reach the 'highest level' in the sport.
“We're very happy of the agreement reached with Lorenzo.
“He is a young rider and we hope to take him to his full potential,” he said.
“Savadori has already shown he can battle amongst the top riders of the Superstock 1000 and we'll do our best to guide him through the next championship.
“Our team is very motivated to take a young rider to his highest level and we are working hard to be ready for the 2013 season in the best possible way.”
