WSS » Roccoli heads three-man PATA by Martini line-up

As well as backing Honda, PATA will once again lend its support to Martini Corse in 2013, with Massimo Roccoli, Dino Lombardi and Luca Salvadori assuming rider duties.
Roccoli heads three-man PATA by Martini line-up
Experienced racer Massimo Roccoli will enter into his eighth season of World Supersport Championship racing in 2013 after being named as part of PATA by Martini Yamaha's three-strong rider line-up.

The Italian, who has made 90 WSS starts since making his full-time debut in 2006, endured a trying 2012 season when his original deal with Bike Service Yamaha fell through, prompting stints with Kuja Honda and Yakhnich Yamaha, before he landed at PATA by Martini Yamaha for the final three rounds.

Buoyed by his performances in those events, Martini Corse – who will be backed by PATA for a second season - have decided to retain Roccoli for its 2013 WSS assault, where he will be joined by Italian youngsters Dino Lombardi and Luca Salvadori.

Lombardi makes his return to PATA by Martini after being dropped in favour of Roccoli towards the end of the 2012 season, the 22-year-old rewarded for winning the Italian CIV Superstock 600 Championship last year.

Salvadori, meanwhile, is promoted to a WSS ride after competing with the team in the European Superstock 600 Champioship last season, scoring seven points.

PATA by Martini's comprehensive line-up further increases an already healthy-looking WSS grid, more than a month before the 2013 season gets underway. As it stands, 27 riders are officially confirmed across six different manufacturers.

So PATA will sponsor this Martini team and the Ten Kate squad both? This is interesting.

Good to see another 3 riders in Supersport, looks like the field will be huge, not like Superbike.
