WSS Assen: PTR boss vows to bounce back

30 April 2013

Simon Buckmaster is confident his PTR Honda team can bounce back for the next round of the 2013 World Supersport Championship after another dismal weekend at Assen.

The team, which has won races and contested the title in each of the last four seasons, has endured a difficult start to the year, one that has been particularly beset by technical issues and now injuries.

Indeed, only three of PTR Honda's five riders made the start of the Assen race after both Sheridan Morais and Luca Marconi suffered injuries over the course of the weekend. With the remaining riders of David Linortner, Matt Davies and Nacho Calero Perez failing to make the top fifteen, PTR would leave the Netherlands empty-handed.

However, though a tenth place is the best result the team has managed in the opening three rounds, Buckmaster is confident the luck will turn for Monza.

"It has been a very tough weekend with the obvious disappointment of Sheridan not being able to start due to injuries from practice.

"Nacho continues to learn in the very tough arena of the WSS Championship. For David and Matt with limited track time due to their crashes, it was always going to be difficult. David with his first finish of the year will surely move forward from this point.

"Obviously we are not used to being in this position but we are a strong team, have every faith in our riders and we will move back to where we should be at Monza."
