I don't deny Loeb is a great rally driver but lets be a bit circumspect... the WRC is hardly a great championship at the moment... just 2 manufacturers and a group of drivers that have hardly managed to to impress since the retirements of a great collection of drivers...

If Loeb does clean-sweep this year's championship it won't be because of any magic on his part but more a reflection of the poor state of the WRC

Stirring, although I agree with you about the poverty with only 2 manufacturers to fight this year, let's not put down Loeb's genius... He did beat several great drivers (former champions) at the beginning of his career, and at that time, he was already seen as one of the bests of all times in rallying

Whilst Loeb is undoubtedly a great driver, as has already been said, his dominance is not based on his greatness, but a sad reflection of the lack of competition he faces.

The WRC is currently in it poorest state ever, with the weakest line up of drivers.

The excitement and unpredictability which made the WRC what it was have gone.

You can now predict the results before each rally. Loeb will win, Hirvo 2nd (or Sordo if Hirv retires), Sordo 3rd, Petter 4th, Henning 5th, Ogier or Citreon junior driver 6th, Matt 7th. It's dull, and it's boring.

We need guys like Atkinson, Gronholm, Martin, Galli, Meeke, P G Anderson back instead of all these pay drivers.
