Mikko Hirvonen continues to lead the Rallye Monte Carlo, but the opposition remains ready to pounce on any mistake from the WRC veteran.

I agree with M Wilson, why did it take so long to get any reports on this event or any previous IRC one.
Is it a question of rights etc, if it is, it is a shame as IRC seems to be a very competive championship as opposed to WRC.

@John Kilbride
Meeke won the IRC championship with a round to spare,however Loeb and Hirvonen went down to the final round to settle their fight.So I think both championships are as competitive as each other.

looking at the entry list before the start, it is obvious that there was no one of experience to really challenge hirvonen. however, the pace of meeka and particularly ogier, shows us that the fiesta was not really an "all conquering" car. miko was lucky that these two hit trouble. it also shows that, due to his closeness to hirvonen, meeke would be a far more competitive driver for the stobart ford, in place of daddy's boy!

Too bad for Ogier for all his endeavour ! Beyond that, he was willing to give his all in the final SS. Would have been a great show !

Honourable to Stephane 'Factotum' Sarrazin !

Congrats to Hirvonen, the guy makes no mistake !

@Steve Stifler
Correct me if I am wrong, which championship had a few different winners last year. Loeb/Hirvonen won lot of rounds last year only because silly team orders were brought in. I think this year will be no different.
I dread the thoughts of the likes of Ogier,Solberg etc being told to back off when Citroen clearly want Loeb to win championship. Even worse is the thoughts of Raikonen in a an up to date C4 and Matt Wilson still in a Focus WRC. I would love to see Meeke/Wilks get at least one run in either car.
