I totally agree with Jari Matti ref running order :

There should be a shakedown as normal in the morning

Then in the afternoon at a different loction there should be a Qualifier stage for seeded drivers only. The first pass as a practice and to sweep the road. Then 2 competetive runs for each crew to qualify.

The fastest seeded drivers then get to choose their running order for the event, this has to be the same position though for every day.

Also if they arrive late at a stage arrival they get penalised for every minute of lateness as usual, plus 30 seconds for every car it means they drop behind of regardless as to the reason.

Also this would draw comparisons to Formula 1.

Interesting Dafydd. Instead of a qualifier stage why not simply take each driver's fastest time over shakedown (maximum four runs permitted).

Regardless of running order our hapless comedy duo Wilson and Martin still a joke. Perfect starting postion on each of the last two rallies and on each of the three days and still slower than treacle. Disgrace.

Firstly, Happy Birthday Jari-Matti ! The best present Mr Wilson could give you is to let you off the leash again, and let you fight for victories.

Dafydd - good to see you back - I thought your computer had bust.

Chris - keep up the good work regarding the 'hapless duo' ! :-o

Answer for Chris :

The reason why we couldnt use Shakedown times for drivers to qualify is that Shakedown is for doing just that.

Its for last minute alterations / set up confirmations for Factory drivers and/or used as a Mini Test session for the private teams who generally dont get to test before an event.

It must be assumed that you start your 1st Shakedown run with a base setting and use subsequent passes to hone your final setting.

After Shakedown it would be fair to have a seperate Qualifying stage to determine the order of choice that a driver gets regarding road position for the whole of the event.

This is very fair as Loeb isnt always fastest over 2 or 3 kilometres

How about these drivers take of their party dresses find their balls and drive flat out?

Loeb wants to be considered the best driver ever? Well just deal with what ever road position he is dealt.prove to people you can win no matter what.

Maybe if more than two people won every rally things would be more exciting to watch.
