The title should have said: 'Volkswagen confirms WRC move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' jk
Great news for the sport, now WRC will become properly interesting again. Can't wait to see who they sign to drive it.
I hope their five year plan turns out a success unlike another one that has been on the go for quite some time...
btw the car looks amazing.

Check out the video on youtube, type in volkswagen wrc, well worth the watch :)

At last, a proper big budget Manufacturer in the WRC - and with the potential to blow everyone out of the water!! Just what the WRCC has needed for years. Let's hope this leads to more interest and coverage of the sport - with the added BMW-Mini story.

@stratos
yes this must certainly help increase coverage of our sport and VW with the resources of VWAudi group and El Matador must mean development shouldn't be a problem..!
Peter will be in one seat i imagine..

Thing is, Ford don't have a big budget - they rely on sponsorship from Abu Dhabi,and their various customer programmes to fund their WRC effort. Prodrive-Mini will be the same. Only Citroen throw millions at the WRC. So the point made by Stratos isn't entirely wrong.

Why dont VW do as they originally planned

They were supposed to be entering in 2012

Why delay it until 2013, Mini proved that you can quickly build a car in just under a year, and lets be honest, they are not a million years behind Mini with development

I am dissapointed about the date they have chosen

I am assuming they will do the same in 2012 as Mini are doing in 2011, partial programme.....

I guess another classic example of VW-AUDI following BMWs program. Im sure VW is only looking at this because BMW entered mini into wrc....the timing is not a coincidence
