Wow doom and gloom all around.

If ford do decide to stick around, Solberg is the smart choice as he can bring the consistency tO match JML's speed.

Cross fingers everything works out!

It would be a huge shame for wrc if petter isn't on the stages next year. A former world champ, thrilling to watch and probably the most charismatic chap in wrc. Also bad news if ford don't stay, we don't need to lose one factory as another decides to commit.

As Petter is testing for Ford on Thursday, and driver nominations have to be submitted on Monday, I would say it's looking good for Ford to continue in the WRC. It seems Ford wanted more say over drivers etc. so maybe this is their influence being brought to bear ?

The autosport article states Petter will stay on over the weekend to negotiate a deal with Malcolm if the test goes okay. Can't see why this would be happening if Ford weren't staying on.

Well I seem to be in a minority here but though Petter obviously needs Ford I'm not sure Ford really needs Petter, unless they are thinking in terms of one more year then pack up. I say that because I think Solberg is past his prime, and if Ford are committed long term they would be better to bring on a young driver (Ostberg, Tanak for examples) alongside Latvala for the future.

You would have to be crazy to put Ostberg or Tanaak in the car ahead of Solberg. Petter has proven he is just as fast as he was in 05. Ott and Mads are still young and to be honest, proven nothing. If Ford commits they are going to want manufacturers titles. Solberg and JML give you the best oppurtunity to do that at the moment.

Speaking of Ford, I think a deal may be very close. Why would Ford bring in Solberg if something wasn't in the works? Ott or Mads WOULD be brought in on the cheap if Ford left. I think Monday will bring an announcement that pleases us blue oval fans.

If there was any justice in the world then the deal between Ford and Petter will go through. It would be a crying shame for WRC to lose either Ford or Petter.

Petter would be a brilliant addition to the Ford team, what he did with his own was nothing short of brilliant. Fingers crossed for Thursday!

When Ogier went to VW this move was always on the cards, Petter = PUBLICITY and SPEED and that is a major reason why Ford would not promote one of the young drivers to a full works seat. I also understand that Petter is considering a no salary arrangement which would suit Ford.
As far as MW not signing him because of the Subaru thing, this was never going to happen if Ford wanted him nothing Malcolm was going to say would change that.

Never Mind no salary, Petter will be bringing a fair few quid to the Team, but how much remains behind closed doors, Petter Really wants this seat and the one thing Ford need is Budget

The couldnt afford Ogier although he made so much sence, and Ogier like Hirv didnt want to risk not having a Factory seat next year so took the staggering VW Deal, a complete no brianer for him Really

As i said before, If they dont sign Ogier, Solberg has easily has to be the firm favorite, I think Ostberg only tested a Mini to keep Malcolm on his toes, but Solberg is my bet, and Tanak will be another Latvala, starting in the B Team and probably eventually Replace Solberg in a year or Two when he Retires. PERFECT !

If you think about all of this Logically, it all seems to fit like a Glove.

Latvala and Solberg could Team up to give Ford a much needed Solid team with 2 drivers with Ample experience, both capable of Podiums and both super Hungry for wins but two really nice guys to boot, who wont squabble and bicker with each other

Ford may sign Petter on a two year deal while Tanak goes through his Latvala schooling and is ready to hit the front and get regular wins at an A Team driver. Perfect situation for Ford, while both Hirv and Loeb may possibly retire in 2 years leaving Citroen with no pilots to fly their planes. Oh Deer !
