For sure Quesnel has been fired for his letting go citroen future hope Ogier.

He(Olivier) badly managed To super fast driver and engineered the young ones championship loss.

The engine problem in Spain was not real. A good team principal should have put all the efforts on the future hope, not a nearly retiring guy who is approaching his 40s.

Guy franklin knew who to support in 2003 by supporting Loeb instead of Carlos sainz who was leading the championship.

@Jeff:

I think Quesnel was more pro-Ogier than pro-Loeb - he was the one who "raised" Ogier in Citroen since him JWRC times. The problem was with Loeb being too valuable for Citroen (as far as I know he is a no 1 favourite sportsman in France which means he is far too important for the marketing to be ditched for Seb 2.0). The fact Quesnel will be ditched from Citroen was clear after Loeb went straight to the big bosses of Citroen for a new contract which ensured him no 1 position in a team and not joint no 1s as it was in 2011 season.

From my personal opinion, Quesnel did not handle the whole situation very well even though he was saying there is no problem for the whole season. Also, he backed the wrong driver, even though that driver was more important for the future of Citroen Racing than Loeb. Unfortunately for Quesnel, Loeb is more important overall for Citroen.

@katee

I totally agree with ur comment. Loeb himself said after he signed a new contract that citroen headquarter was involved.
And in germany after team orders, Ogier himself declared in french interview that Seb is always going to cry to the boss because he's being disturbed by his young teammate....he added, they(citroen bosses) have guaranted him some stuff in his contract....

Guess what happened at the end of that day....Loeb puctured and Ogier declared....Sometime sports have their own justice....

I think Ogier made a big mistake: he just needed to play along for a year... be a good team mate and Loeb would have retired and he (Ogier) would have inherited the team. He would have had many years to shine. Now he has to start over with a car still to be proven to be competitive. Besides, if Miko does well this year, it will be dificult to get somebody conflictive back in the team. Too arrogant to understand this I think.

The truth is that Loeb was thinking about retirement on several occasions and Quesnell was under pressure to find future drivers that would ensure the contiuation of Citroens success at the Top

They had found this in Ogier, but so long as Ogier was winning and loeb was still driving there would be fireworks, I think Quesnell was right to encourage Ogier but sadly Loeb has way too much power and the friction just built and built and built

Loeb went t o the Board and complained about the squabbling and signed an extension to drive for Citroen with total and clear number 1 status guaranteed and on the condition that they Replace Quesnell at the end of 2011 with a new team principal, this is the extent of Loebs Power, and the new guy actually walked out on the team in 2008 when they gave the job to Quesnell instead of him
