WRC » Latvala: Everything was in place to do well...

Jari-Matti Latvala: I really wanted to fight for the victory and that's where I made the mistake. Now we need to think about the championship. There are 12 rallies in which we can still fight for victory - we need to come back strong in Sweden.

Well first of all the Monte isnt over yet so anything can still happen, Loeb wont necessarily win, but its looking like he will so far

Jari Matti was indeed under pressure to try and push in that stage and at least hold his advantage, if not try and gain a little more on the snowy section with his studs

Its sad that he has crashed out, but exciting that he was infront by 30 seconds at that point, I am very confident that we will see him push Loeb this year on every Rally and who knows how the season will end, Hopefully his confidence hasnt be knocked too much

Thing is everyone was expecting him to be able to push Loeb in 2008 and 2009 and 2010 and 2011 and 2012. If he keeps doing this Ford will not stand a chance in the manufacturers.
He should play a support role to Petter until he learns to control his speed.

I was surprised when Ford made him No 1.

He can drive fast, but that doesn't win rallies, finishing wins rallies.

He's a loose canon in my eyes. Loeb must be laughing his head off.

He can push Loeb and has done so in the past. Problem is he is the type of driver who goes for wins or crashes trying. That is all there is too it. Mcrae was the same was along with others. Loeb is rare in the fact that he is so fast and so consistent, hence all the championships.

Ford needs to make some serious decisions, JML is not a consistent driver. He does better when the pressure is on someone elses shoulders. That is why Ford did so badly the last couple years because both of it's driver were not #1 driver material.

I dont think this would achieve anything, Latvala is the best bet for Ford as it stands right now, after 2011 I would say Latvala deserves his shot at the Title as Lead driver in the Ford Team

A Team needs a clear strategy and the plan has been set, I think everyone is jumping the gun here questioning Latvalas ability, yes he had an accident but he is the fastest driver out there with the record for higest number of fastetst times in 2011

Im sure Sweeden onwards will be different and by mid season we will hopefully see a big fight on the cards, I think Petter will help Jari Matti a lot more than Mikko could and we will see a perfect balance much like Marcus and Mikko all over again, even better

I also think Petter will win at least one Rally in 2012

No doubt JML has speed, but he has shown only glimpses of consistency.

Petter finally being in a full factory team will get back to winning ways very shortly. I think him doing what he did in a private team only shows his talent and determination.

I am sure Ford has a stretegy, but is it to win the driver or manufacture championship? If they are going after the driver's JML is their best shot, but if they want to rack up the largest amount of point they need to let Petter Take the lead and have JML support him.

If you were running a rally, why would you choose not to let cars restart the following day. Do the organisers think "we're Monte Carlo, spectators would turn out even if there was only ten cars left".

He is the only driver for the moment who can oppose Loeb and make the championship interesting. The second drivers in the leading manufacturers teams are still getting use with new cars. Hopefully Ford has much stronger machine this year and we see more close fights next rallies. Go Latvalla.
