Factory Fords must stay calm and 'survive' the first day in Portugal. Afterwards they can plan their tactics according to the current situation.

That was probably what JML intended to do in Mexico, just didn't happen. With more speed you can control the race if everithing goes smoothly, it's not really necessary to push all the time, and it's probably time to be more wise in winning as much points you can get under the circomstances, so the championship to be more interesting.

JML on every rally is very eager to take the first spot right from the beginning and that can be costly, as it proved twice. If that happen again here his confidence will be absolutely destroyed and Loeb will cruise to title number 9. It's better for him to stay calmer and see how things going on and to put more and more pressure with every stage. And if Petter achieve better result than JML it will be smarter for Wilson to put him as No. 1 driver.

For MKD

I totally agree with what you initially said above, but Jari is Fords immediate Future so they wont give number 1 status to a driver who is not assured of continuing with the squad next year. This would undermine what they have with Jari Matti

But I do agree that Jari-Matti needs to maybe reel in that raw speed a little and maybe drive more like Seb and choose when to be on it and when to be cautious, no one can do that better than Seb

Petter is doing a fine job and I believe will be retained in 2013 in the squad next to Jari-Matti if he continues doing a strong job as he is doing, I am very pleased to see his Luck is changing for the better

Perhaps JML has been N2 enough time now, perhaps too much. He was faster than Hirvonen last year, and remember 2010 he finished second in the championship. This year he fights for the title and it is time to get it, but beating Loeb is really hard - many have failed. He knows this, and makes some early mistakes probably trying the impossible. I also wish his Luck to turn over and we follow interesting championship fight between them.

I really believe that Solberg will be good team mate this year and will back him when it is necessary. There is no need to speculate who must be N1, most of the time this doesn't matter.

Well, if JML has again tough start this year, and that's 1 or max 2 more DNFs, than again he will be support but this time for Petter(wish not to happen). I don't think that Loeb feel more threaten than last year because at least in his yard is peaceful.

And maybe Ford should be more concentrated on the manufactures championship because their both drivers are capable of almost easily outpacing Hirvonen on every rally. Winning it will be a huge boost for their efforts of finding bigger backers.
