Something tells me that he's bringing money to the team - or a sponsor. Pure talent is falling to the way side (and not say Atko has none, he has!), the world is full of very very fast drivers, with no money. Wasn't Meeke told a few years ago 2million euro for a 10 round programme with Citroen? How many world champions do we have in this country but do not have the backing?

Rallying is all about money, it takes up so much money, even at Club level, A proper engine for a Group4 mk2 BDG Historic Escort is 27k alone

These Guys are used to Big Money, people like Atko and Sordo come from very wealthy backgrounds with pretty deep pockets, even Latvala has a wealthy family

There is always a trade off between money and Talent, sometimes the more talented people just have Talent and no money and this is just so sad as it is very difficult to get to the very top in this sport unless you have huge reserves of both

Its good that Atko is replacing Aroujo though as that hasnt been right since the start, at least Atko could possibly get a podium somewhere, it is also a shame Meeke didnt get the deal, but as mentioned, this is probably and sadly down to money

He's the only driver to drive all 3 different WRC cars in one year!!
Ford Fiesta WRC to Citreon DS3 WRC to MINI John Cooper Works WRC

Perhaps its a Prodrive related deal?

Sums up all that's wrong with WRC at the moment.

Nothing against Atkinson but seems like Meeke should have that drive....but he has no backing or very little backing.

Hope he's bringing plenty dollars as he'll wreck a few cars

Think everyone's right about him bringing cash to the team, but i like the guy he got a few good results in a dodgy Subaru that no one else could get to go quickly at the time.
Would have been better if BMW and Prodrive hadn't made such a f*ck up originally and Meeke & Sordo were still out on all events

Perhaps they needed to more crash testing done on the mini :P

Nothing against Chris, I like him cos hes from my part of the world (NZ), but hes an Aussie so I have to hassle him (I think its in our constitution).
