To those who seem to think Atko is somehow paying for his drive, think again. I'm aussie, and have followed Chris's path closely since Subaru left, and the overwhelming hurdle he's been trying to overcome in getting back to the WRC has been money.

Other than V8 Supercars, Australian companies do basically jack squat in sponsoring drivers.

If he was money backed, he wouldn't have been out for 2 years. Especially considering he beat Petter in their final year together. I know some of u want Meeke in, and I understand. But sponsorship money isn't what got Chris this drive.

He Leased the Citroen that he drove in Finland, it cost him a lot of money, this was no secret, maybe BMW finally woke up to the fact that the Mini Team Portugal were actually hurting their image rather than helping it, hence the shake up !

I can honestly say that I havnt heard one way or the other how he got this drive

A good move for Chris, hope he does well. Can't be easy stopping and starting his career.

However, Rallying, more than most Motorsports requires bringing finance to simply get a drive. A sad reflection on the sport. If you want a career in Motorsport, then go circuit racing - loads of opportunities!

Audi ran 4 cars at Le Mans - so 12 drivers, how many were pay drivers? I reckon none....

10 years ago there were 7 Manufacturer teams, and about 20 factory drivers....

Haha...That's funny. An Aussie with financial backing. Mark Webber, parents re mortgaged house to get him a drive in European F3! Casey Stoner lived in a caravan with his parents while competing in 125's and 250's! Chris Atkinson driving Protons and Daywoos in Asia Pacific championship and dominating. Aussies bring a hard working professional attitude with them, not money!
