Only ONLY Hapless could come out with: "but the performance was even better than last year and that's the encouraging thing".

He seems genuinely pleased that he finished over 6mins down on JML. Until the final day there were 5 identical cars in front of him - this on his 89th WRC and 9th Rally GB start!!

Further, the wunderkid finished nearly 2 mins behind Neuville on his first Rally GB and first season in a WRC. And he wants more sponsorship for more! The only people who could possibly consider such a move are asleep.

I'm not actually sure Wilson is right in any event.

Albeit nothing to write home about, on Rally GB 2011 he set 1 4th fastest stage time and 3 7th fastest times.

May be I've got my sums wrong but, this time out he only set 2 7th fastest times.

Perhaps the old saying never let truth ever get in the way of a good press release still rings true??

Sad to see, really, when you have Henning - who is faster and charismatic - sitting out, people like Meeke fighting for a seat, and Juho Hanninen stuck in the IRC/ ERC championships. Not a fair place, the WRC.

This is just a complete waste of time and money for so many people.. I understand that Malcolm wanted to give Matthew a chance at rallying, well he's had nearly 90 WRC starts, and a pretty average time of it.
Why doesn't Malcolm see if he's any better at fitting tyres or booking hotels for championship contending drivers??

Anyways, Good luck Matthew!

He was quite a bit quicker than last year, that's why he said his performance was better.
This year, the guys ahead had hardly any problems, so that's why Matt didn't reach a 4th fastest time.

But last year he finished +8:57.3 (or 4.24%) off Latvala, though that included a 10-sec penalty.

This year he finished +6:00.4 or +3.27% off Latvala, though the rally was about 20 minutes shorter this time.

The percentage takes that into account though and he was still +0.97% quicker this year, which isn't that awful considering he's been out of the car so long.

Also, though 6 minutes is a lot, it was quite a bit less than I was expecting. People on here were having him down around 12th-15th.

There was no fight with Atkinson, mainly cos Atko is stuck with Armindo's poor car. But I think Wilson Jr did better than people, including me expected.

Matt has had zero success in world rallying, So why not look to other forms of Motorsport. Btcc for example. I'm sure M sport have the relevant contacts to get him into a ford Ngtc car of some sort. Obviously he'd have to do some races in some lower formulae 1st.
