WRC » Loeb: This is what we came to do

Sebastien Loeb: There were two rallies left where I could have won the title, but I'm really very happy to do it here for the fans in Alsace

@WRC for me
It's not just you.
Does Loeb need to quit the sport he love just because he's better than the rest? Sooner or later he is going to retire eventually so there will be more drivers fighting closely. But what if in the future someone else appears and blow the opposition away? Then you will hate the WRC again or what?
There is almost no luck in sports, if someone is WAY better than the rest he will keep winning until he retires or someone else appears.

Ok so here we go,

4: Rounds missed after breaking shoulder in 2006 - he still claimed title STILL WON IT

100: Percentage of stages won on Tour de Corse in 2005 NOT ONE OTHER DRIVER WON A STAGE

6: Record held by Loeb for most WRC event wins in a row, achieved twice

9: Number of occasions Loeb has won Germany's WRC qualifier

11: Victories scored during the 2008 season

Thats quite amazing figures, just boring to see him win all the team. Maybe its him, maybe its no one else coming close. A lot of tactics to ensure he wins too. The Ogier issue, losing on gravel GB so he could take the championship and manafacturer on home soil. We've all seen and discussed them over the years.

Just bored bored bored and can't wanit for him to go.
5: Rallies won at the start of the 2009 season in succession

It's almost unreal to win your ninth consecutive world title while competing in your hometown, the very place where you spent your youth...That must be such an unique feeling !

To WRC for me:
WRC is not F1. WRC race by time but F1 race each other. For F1 it will be very boring if every time the winner is in from by 15 seconds.
But for WRC, you watch how the driver drive, and for that , in the pass 10 years, I never feel bore.

wrc for me. as in f1, if a driver is dominating, it is up to the others to catch up and attain the same level. it is not sebs fault that the others cannot reach that level. however, part of the attraction of wrc, is to watch the others trying their best to match seb. he will eventually lose his touch or retire, but until that time, i will sit back and enjoy watching a maestro at work.

maybe you should change your name to "wrc is not for me"?

Some people are confused between the fact the the battle for the championship in terms of points sharing would be more intriguing if Loeb wasn't so dominant and WRC being boring as a whole.

"part of the attraction of wrc, is to watch the others trying their best to match seb" - yes that would be something if:
1) There wasn't only one driver able to macth Loeb's pace, who is/his car crash prone.
2) Loeb wasn't dominant in his own team (in any respect), which is supposed to be the better team.
3) There were at least 4 factory teams with at least 1 top level driver able to fight for fictory for at least half of the Rallies.

When all this isn't in place, it is "boring" in terms of "we already know who will win, why should we bother watching it?"

The same could happen next years with Ogier & VW if they develop rock star car and his team mate is merely his shadow.

But congratulations for Loeb anyway. He has the driving and deserves his titles.

stefan. i thought that you were a fan of rallying!

your "ifs" are ridiculous. do you think that it is sebs fault that others cannot step up to the mark. the others just have to try harder.

I've always been and will ever be.
I don't see anything Rally-fan-against in my comment. At least it was not my intention:) I blame Loeb no one can beat him the least. The man is doing his job perfectly. I'm only sorry for the big crisis WRC has been in recent years, that is a shame for a true Rally fan:)
