As expected, Malcolm Wilson's M-Sport team will continue in the World Rally Championship in 2013 thanks to a deal with Nasser Al-Attiyah and the Qatari State

This is good news for WRC 2013. OK Nasser is never gonna be world champion, and I'm sure people will start saying how he has paid for his seat. So what? It means M-Sport will enter 3 Fiesta WRC's in 2013. That can only be a positive in my book.

Well, finally they have agreed this deal, now maybe Malcolm can quickly sign Petter and Mads and start finalising preparations for the new season before Mini beat them to Mads

This is virtually identical to the Deal that Ford had with Abu Dhabi previously, A Very Big dollop of cash to run 3 cars on the understanding that one of them had to be a driver of Middle Eastern origin, namely Khalid Al Quassimi at that time, only this is Qatar and Al Attiyah

Probably of simular amount too, as towards the end Ford were putting in less and less money, relying almost entirely on external funding from people like Abu Dhabi and Castrol etc

Its great that this got sorted. Nasser was saying a few back before the Cyprus rally that he wanted to get the deal with M Sport sorted as quickly as possible so Im sure today is just the completion of the commercial deal, dotting the i's and all that. Malcom is on record as saying only last week that his first choice for team leader would be Mads. This calls into question whether he will have petter or not. Petter had a poor year in '12 and he was definitely not as fast as Seb, JML or Mikko. Every puncture, every mistake means that he was over the edge trying to keep up. If money is tighter this year, Malcom will want to keep the Fiestas straight so we wont want wrecks.

When Nasser is off drivng through deserts, shooting at targets etc, expect to see craig breen or Elfyn Evans getting one or 2 guest drives. Similar to what was done with the Qatar citroen this year. Neuville and others got to fill in. Breen and Evans have ford pedigree. It would be great to see them getting a chance. Evans particulary is special. He was regulary beating more powerful machinery in an R2 fiesta this year in the BRC.

I understand Hayden Paddon had a test with ford in a WRC car last week, I suppose it depends on how much money he can bring to the team.
