If Malcolm Wilson thought that much of Petter then why the hell isn't he in the team.

I would not be surprised if Matthew Wilson gets the other seat at M-sport, that is one guy who should never have made it to the WRC. Absolutely useless he was. Oh Matt has done well finishing 5th, yeah about 10 minutes down that's a fantastic result. NOT.

Well I think that the decision to not have a solid veteran on the team is a big mistake. Petter for all his faults was a very consistent and all around driver.

2012 was the year to prove to the world he still deserved to be in the WRC, and he failed. If only he was better. Maybe he should take a drive in S2000 and earn a factory drive instead of relying on the days of old all the time, but I think his arrogance is too high for that.

5th in the World Championship is obviously failing by some peoples standards, usually those who are in no position to pass that judgement.
I doubt Petter is happy with the results he achieved, sadly his presence will be missed in the WRC.

To the comment under seperated it is obvious that u have never met Petter or been in his service park, you will never meet a driver with as much time for his fans as this man and his team, he is one of the nicest characters in the wrc, just because he had no luck this year doesn't mean he is arrogant he is far from it.
I know i will not be alone when i say he will be sadly missed and i hope to see him and Chris back in the wrc soon

@Solberg fan
Totally agree with you there

He will be back with Hyundai I guarantee it. They will s*** themselves to get a driver like Petter

@ seperated. totally agree with you. A big mouth and arrogant. About time he was gone and some young and upandcomig kid can get a chance.If you ever listened to Petter interviews, he was never his fault and then he usually came out with something like, "before I crashed, i was on the same pace as Loeb and JML". Total BS. If he was on the same pace he would have been leading rallies and winning the odd one.

@chris h
That's just the problem unless some up and coming kid has millions behind him they will not get that chance. Petter is one of the best characters in the WRC and without him it's going to be a dull place. We get rid of one dull French **** only to be lumbered with another. For a guy to have one 9 world titles he never showed much excitement, Petter finishes on the podium and you think he won a world title.

Lets just see how we'll Ostberg does next year when he steps up into a team that wants victories, he just showed in the final round this year that when a victory is on the cards he's in the ditch. Petter could so easily have settled for 3rd, 4th and 5th places this year and been 3rd or even 2nd in the championship but when you push for the win the greater chance you have of going off. I'm sick of these other drivers just settling for second. You never seen McRae, Makinen, Burns and Sainz settling for places they always went for victory and that's why they were great to watch

Bill. Petter did not crash on every rally. Sometimes his luck held out and he did finsih 2nd or 3rd. Even to achieve these results, Petter was on or over the limit. In fairness, it is great to see when a driver is flat out. That is why JML is great to watch. When he is flat out, he can win. but then, he does over do it sometimes. Petter is a character but you can be a character without all the shoulda, woulda coulda talk. Overall, driver wise, the WRC will be better to watch next year cos Loeb (and he was a great driver) will not be there. There is unpredictablity there already. How will VW go? How will Mikko go as favourite? Can mads step up for win? Can Sordo get his first win? These were all questions in the past but never got answered cos Loeb kept winning. Ok, so there is a character gone but the WRC should be more exciting next year.
